Biography:

Daniel Gillies was born on March 14, 1976 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He and his family went back to their native New Zealand when he was five. He became interested in acting, enrolling at the Unitec School of Performing Arts.

Due to a lack of acting opportunities in New Zealand, he traveled to Australia for six weeks and returned to Canada where he stayed for two months. He then decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting.

In 2004, he gained notice for his role in Spider-Man 2 and in Bride and Prejudice. He now plays one of the main roles in the series The Originals.
