Biography:

Akshay Kumar was born on September 9, 1967 in Amritsar, Punjab, India. He first became a model before becoming an actor. His Bollywood acting debut was in the 1991 film Saugandh. He starred in the thriller Khiladi the following year.

In 1994, he starred in commercially successful action films such as Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Mohra. He also appeared in the romantic film Yeh Dillagi, which also became successful.

For his performance in Yeh Dillagi, which was different from his typical roles in action films, he earned his first nominations for Best Actor at the Filmfare and Star Screen ceremonies.
