Alanis Morissette was born on June 1, 1974 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She first came to worldwide prominence after the release of the album Jagged Little Pill in 1995. It eventually sold more than 33 million units internationally.

In 1998, she released her second album entitled Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie and took up producing duties for her subsequent albums, which include Under Rug Swept, So-Called Chaos and Flavors of Entanglement.

She has sold more than 60 millions albums worldwide during the course of her career, and has won 16 Juno Awards, seven Grammy Awards and has earned two Golden Globe nominations.
