Alex McKenna was born on October 15, 1984 in Los Angeles, California, U.S.. She was educated at Archer School for Girls in Brentwood, Los Angeles. In 1992, she made her professional acting debut appearing in three episodes of the show Middle Ages. She next had a recurring part on The Trouble with Larry. In 1996, she made her cinematic debut as Petunia Stupid in the film The Stupids.

Subsequently, she appeared in the films Joey, Campfire Tales, and What Women Want, among others. Her television career became more active in the 2000s. During this period, she appeared as Abby Macy on Crossing Jordan. She then appeared as Cat on 90210, followed by her role as Rebecca Sutter on the TV series Dallas. Her last movie was in 2014’s Haunted.
