Hollywood actor Alex Meraz got his start when he appeared with a minor role in Terrence Malick’s The New World, released in 2005. Being a dancer, he appeared as one in the TV series Dancing with Spirit. This was followed by another minor appearance in the show American Experience. He got his break after landing the role of Paul Lahote in The Twilight Saga: New Moon. He reprised his role in the sequel The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
He also reprised his role in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Other films are The Roommate and City of Gardens. He also became known for his supporting role as Zack in the movie Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown. More recently, he had guest appearances in the shows The Glades, Single Ladies, and Animal Kingdom. He also had roles in the films Suicide Squad and Bright.
It is apparent that the Twilight actor has a ripped physique, which he got from his vigorous workout routine. Being an actor, he’s also required to train for some of his roles, which only means he gets to train more intensely. For instance, playing as a werewolf in the Twilight films meant that he needed to prepare physically. He also needed to show his body, which required him to not only be strong but to also look strong. According to the actor, his workout routine for Twilight ranged from “cardio, kettlebells, dragging tires, and shouldering 80-pound sandbags.”
The actor also gained 20 pounds of muscles to portray his character. As a matter of fact, one of his trainers played a Spartan in the movie 300. Alex also has a martial arts training, so that also contributed to his well-defined physique. Talking about his character, he said: “I figured my character Paul, he’s a volatile shape-shifter, he loves to fight, he’s scrappy, so I figured I should have that appearance.”
