Biography:
Alex O’Loughlin was born on 24 August 1976 in Canberra, Australia. He attended National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney. He graduated in 2002. His career started in short films and theater. He then started acting on Australian television and movies. His debut was in an episode of White Collar Blue. His first movie was in 2004’s Oyster Farmer.
He then played the title role on the miniseries The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant where his performance was praised. He made his American debut on the TV series The Shield. He next starred on the US series Moonlight, though it only ran for one season. He next played the lead on the short-lived medical drama Three Rivers. His major breakthrough was as Steve McGarrett on Hawaii Five-0, which he started playing in 2010.
