Alyssa Diaz was born on September 7, 1985 in Northridge, Los Angeles, California, U.S. She has Mexican and Colombian heritage. In 2001, she debuted in an episode of The Brothers García. She landed more one-time roles in American Family and CSI: Miami. Her first starring role on television was as Celia Ortega on the soap opera As the World Turns.

In 2005, she had her first film role in How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer. Her Hollywood career became more prolific in the 2010s. She starred in the TV movie The Jensen Project, after which she starred as Jasmine in The Nine Lives of Chloe King. She next played Gloria Cruz in Army Wives. Since 2015, she’s been playing the role of Teresa in the Showtime series Ray Donovan. Starting 2018, she’s also been starring in The Rookie and Narcos: Mexico.
