Amanda Peet was born on January 11, 1972 in New York, USA. She studied history at Columbia University, where a drama professor convinced her to audition for acting teacher Uta Hagen, with whom she later went on to study for four years.

In 1990, she was cast in a guest-starring role in the hit series Law & Order. Five years later, she had her film debut in the movie Animal Room.

Her role in the hit comedy The Whole Nine Yards brought her wider recognition. She has appeared in a variety of films, including Something’s Gotta Give, Syriana and 2012.
