Biography:

Andrea Navedo was born on October 10, 1977 in The Bronx, New York City, New York. She began her acting career in soap operas, gaining recognition for her roles in One Life to Live and Guiding Light in the mid 1990s to early 2000s. She then appeared in the movies Double Take and Washington Heights. In 2001, she got the role of Ana Cordova in Law & Order, receiving widespread recognition.

In the 2010s, she has played recurring roles in How to Make It in America, Golden Boy, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit before landing a regular role, playing Xiomara Villanueva in Jane the Virgin starting in 2014. The show has since become popular, gaining her further prominence. In addition, she played the role of Michelle in the 2015 movie Superfast!.
