Biography:
Andrew Scott was born on October 21, 1976 in Dublin, Ireland. When he was 17 he landed his first role in a movie. It was in the Irish feature Korea. After appearing on 2 TV movies, he made his American debut in Saving Private Ryan in a minor role. He continued acting in the 2000s. He went on to receive an award locally for starring in Dead Bodies.
In 2008, he portrayed Col. William Smith on the American series John Adams. He gained wider recognition for portraying Paul McCartney in the TV film Lennon Naked. He achieved further attention for playing Jim Moriarty on the BBC series Sherlock. For this, he won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor. He has also played notable roles in the Hollywood films Spectre, Victor Frankenstein, and Alice Through the Looking Glass.
