Hollywood actress and comedian Awkwafina initially appeared as herself in the MTV series Girl Code. She was then the co-host of Girl Code Live. She landed her first solo hosting gig with Tawk. At the same time, she appeared in the documentary film Bad Rap.
Her first acting role on the big screen was in the comedy film Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. That same time, she had a voice role in the animated movie Storks as well. On television, she made appearances in Mary + Jane and Future Man. In 2018, she came to prominence for playing supporting roles in major Hollywood films, Ocean’s 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. She also starred in the Netflix film Dude.
That same year, she guest-starred in Saturday Night Live. After this, she had a voice role in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Simultaneously, she starred in the films The Farewell, Paradise Hills, The Angry Birds Movie 2, and Jumanji: The Next Level. For her role in an upcoming Marvel film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Awkwafina decided to get more fit and toned by trying the keto diet. Although she admits it didn’t last. “Recently, I did dabble a little bit in the keto diet. I didn’t eat bread for a day. And sugar,” said the actress. Nonetheless, she relies on some healthy foods as her go-to when she’s hungry. She likes broccoli, almonds, avocado, and watermelon. As for her general diet plan, she keeps it simple with lean proteins and lots of veggies. She also tries to avoid snacking on processed and junk foods and instead opts for fruits instead.
