Biography:

Azealia Banks was born on May 31, 1991 in Harlem, New York City, USA. She became interested in musical theatre at a young age, attending LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts but dropped out to completely focus on her musical career.

At the age of 17, she was signed with XL Recordings, later switching to Interscope and Polydor Records. In 2011, she gained wider fame as a recording artist when she topped the NME’s Cool List.

Her debut single “212” was released on December 16, 2011 and was later included in her extended play 1991. The following year, she released a mixtape called Fantasea, as well as the songs “Yung Rapunxel” and “ATM Jam”.
