From 1997-2001, he gained wider recognition for starring on the sketch comedy series Armstrong and Miller. In 1999, he made his big screen debut in the film Plunkett and Macleane. During the 2000s, he had performances in the films There’s Only One Jimmy Grimble, The Parole Officer, Johnny English, The Prince and Me, and Razzle Dazzle: A Journey into Dance. He also starred as Howard Steel on the British sitcom The Worst Week of My Life. He later played James Lester on the TV show Primeval.
