Benito Martinez is an American actor whose career began in the late 1980s. He first appeared in an episode of The Bronx Zoo. He later made his film debut in 1993’s Sunset Grill. This was followed by another role in the 1995 film My Family. During this period, he also landed several one-time roles on television. He guest-starred in such shows as Reasonable Doubts, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Silk Stalkings.
In the 2000s, he became widely known for starring as David Aceveda in the FX series The Shield, which he starred in from 2002 to 2008. Afterward, he played President-Elect Benjamin Castillo in 3 episodes of The Unit. He also played Ronnie Rodriguez in Saving Grace. He simultaneously had performances in the films Saw, Million Dollar Baby, End Game, and Kill Your Darlings. In the 2010s, he had recurring roles in Supernatural, Sons of Anarchy, House of Cards, The Blacklist, and How to Get Away with Murder. He recently played Sheriff Diaz in 13 Reasons Why.
