Bill Skarsgård was born on 9 August 1990 in Sweden. His father is actor Stellan Skarsgård. Actor Alexander Skarsgård is his older brother. In 2000, at age 10, he made his debut in the Swedish movie White Water Fury, starring his older brother, Alexander. He next appeared on the miniseries in 2002. He stopped acting for a while and returned in 2007 with roles in short films.

In 2008, he had a role in the film Arn – The Kingdom at Road’s End. The following year, he appeared in the movie Kenny Begins. His first lead role was in the film I rymden finns inga känslor, or Simple Simon. His performance here won him acclaim. His first role in an international movie was in Anna Karenina. In 2013, he became known for his role as Roman Godfrey on the American series Hemlock Grove. In 2016, he starred as Matthew in the Hollywood film The Divergent Series: Allegiant.
