Brian Cox is an award-winning Scottish actor. His career spans decades, starting in the 1960s. In 1971, he made his cinematic debut portraying Leon Trotsky in the film Nicholas and Alexandra. Later in 1979, he played Henry II of England in the BBC series The Devil’s Crown. During the 1980s, he starred as Dr. Hannibal Lecktor in Manhunter. His film career further flourished in the 1990s, starring in Iron Will, Prince of Jutland, Braveheart, Chain Reaction, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Desperate Measures, and Rushmore, among others. In the 2000s, he played notable roles in the movies Complicity, The Affair of the Necklace, The Rookie, and The Ring. He also became known for starring as Ward Abbott in The Bourne Identity, which he reprised in The Bourne Supremacy. He also starred as Robert McKee in Spike Jonze’s Adaptation, as well as portrayed Melvin Belli in David Fincher’s Zodiac. On TV, he played Jack Langrishe in HBO’s Deadwood. As of 2018, he stars as Logan Roy in HBO’s Succession. He also portrayed Winston Churchill in the film Churchill.
