Caitlin McHugh was born on May 13, 1986 in Santa Monica, California, USA. She attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. There, she studied contemporary dance. She is married to Full House actor John Stamos. In 2007, she debuted in acting as an extra in the movie I Am Legend. She next played another small role in one episode of Blue Blood.

Her first credited role on television was as Stacy in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. After this, she played the part of Lindsay Sevrin in the made-for-TV film Guilty. In 2014, she appeared as Sloan in some episodes of The Vampire Diaries. After this, she landed roles in such features as Tomato Soup and 48 Hours to Live. Her most recent work was in the 2017 film Random Tropical Paradise.
