Cameron Diaz was born on August 30, 1972 in San Diego, California. She left home when she was 16, returned to California after five years and worked as a model.

Her agency secured her an audition for the female lead in The Mask and she got the role despite having no acting experience. She was launched into stardom as the film became one of 1994’s biggest hits.

She appeared in mainstream films, including my Best Friend’s Wedding and has received Golden Globe Award nominations for her performances in Being John Malkovich, Vanilla Sky, Gangs of New York and There’s Something About Mary.
