Biography:
Cate Blanchett was born on May 14, 1969 in Melbourne, Australia. She graduated from Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art.
After graduating, she joined the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Caryl Churchill’s “Top Girls”. She won the Newcomer Award from the Sydney Theatre Critics Circle for her performance.
For her television roles, she starred in Bordertown, G.P. and Police Rescue. She made her feature film debut in Paradise Road.
She came to international attention for her role as Elizabeth I of England in the film Elizabeth, for which she won BAFTA and Golden Globe awards for Best Actress.
