Biography:

Cillian Murphy was born on May 25, 1976 in Douglas, Cork, Ireland. He started his performing career as a rock musician. He, however, turned down a recording deal and made his professional acting debut in the play Disco Pigs instead.

His breakthrough came in 2003 when he starred in Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later. He became well known for his work collaborating with director Christopher Nolan such as in the 2005 film Batman Begins and the 2010 blockbuster Inception.

His other film work includes Red Eye, Sunshine, Cold Mountain, Girl with a Pearl Earring, and The Dark Knight Rises, among others.
