Biography:
Constance Wu was born on March 22, 1982 in Richmond, Virginia. During her high school years, she started performing on school plays, as well as on their local theater. She then studied acting at Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in NYU in a six-month program. She finished her acting degree from Purchase College. She also studied psycholinguistics after graduating from college.
In 2006, she made her film debut in Stephanie Daley. That same period, she made her TV debut on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She next had a recurring role as Laudine Lee on One Life to Live. She also had roles in the films The Architect and Year of the Fish. In 2015, she got her major break as Jessica Huang on the ABC sitcom Fresh Off the Boat. She will star as the lead role Rachel Chu in the upcoming film Crazy Rich Asians.
