Biography:
Dan Stevens was born on 10 October 1982 in Croydon, London, England. He became interested in acting when he attended Tonbridge School in Kent. He then began training and performing in London’s National Youth Theatre at age 15. He went on to study English Literature at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. In 2004, he made his screen debut on the miniseries Frankenstein. He went on to appear on the TV films Dracula and Maxwell.
He next appeared on the miniseries Sense and Sensibility. He became later widely recognized for his role as Matthew Crawley on the popular British drama Downton Abbey. During the same period he became more active in movies. He had notable roles in the films The Fifth Estate, The Guest, A Walk Among the Tombstones and eNight at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. He will play the Beast in the upcoming movie Beauty and the Beast. He also currently stars as the lead on the TV series Legion.
