Biography:
Daniel Sunjata was born on December 30, 1971 in Evanston, Illinois. He attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts for his master’s in fine arts. In 1998, he made his television debut in the TV film Twelfth Night, or What You Will. Two years later, he appeared as Lewis Freeman in the TV series D.C. From 2002 to 2004, he played the role of Burt Trevor in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
He got his breakthrough as Franco Rivera in the TV series Rescue Me, which he starred in from 2004 to 2011. Simultaneously, he also acted in the films Brother to Brother, The Devil Wears Prada, and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. He also portrayed Reggie Jackson in The Bronx is Burning. He went on to play Nurse Eli in Grey’s Anatomy. After the show Rescue Me had ended, he starred as Paul Briggs in Graceland. More recently, he starred as Jake Gregorian in Notorious.
