Biography:
David Wenham was born on 21 September 1965 in Marrickville, New South Wales, Australia. He attended the University of Western Sydney where he studied Performing Arts. Initially, he began appearing with brief television roles in the late 1980s. In the early ’90s, he had roles in the films Greenkeeping, Seeing Red, and No Escape, among others. He later starred as Dan Della Bosca in the TV series SeaChange.
After roles in the films Moulin Rouge! and Pure, he became known for starring as Faramir in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. He next played Friar Carl in Van Helsing. In 2006, he played the part of Dilios in 300, as well as portrayed Harry Pierpont in the biographical film Public Enemies. In the 2010s, he reprised his role as Dilios in the 300 sequel, 300: Rise of an Empire. Then in 2017, he starred as Lieutenant John Scarfield in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. On TV, he played Al Parker in Top of the Lake, Ian Bradley in The Code, and Harold Meachum in Iron Fist.
