Biography:

Demetria McKinney was born on August 27, 1979 in Natchitoches, Louisiana U.S. She started her entertainment career performing in some Tyler Perry’s stage plays. In 2006, she made her television debut starring as Janine Shelton–Payne in the TBS sitcom Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, a role she played from 2006 to 2012. Later in 2007, she made her film debut in Daddy’s Little Girls.

She went on to star in the 2010 film Breaking Up Is Hard to Do. From 2012 to 2014, McKinney became also known for her role as Monica in The Rickey Smiley Show. Afterward, she was cast for the part of Tamara Austin Calloway in the soap opera Saints & Sinners. Simultaneously, she starred in the short-lived show Superstition. Active on TV, she also had recurring parts in The Quad and The Paynes. As of 2019, she stars as Carissa Walker in A House Divided.
