Biography:
Derek Hough was born on May 17, 1985 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Born to a family of dancers, he trained in London at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts when he was 12 and lived there for 10 years. Along with friend Mark Ballas and sister Julianne, they formed the group 2B1G and performed in dance competitions in the UK and US.
In the 2000s, he won several dance titles. He later gained mainstream recognition for his work on the ABC show Dancing with the Stars where he won two Emmy Awards. He stayed on the show from 2007-2016. He also ventured into acting, playing the recurring character of Noah West on Nashville. As of 2017, he’s a judge on the NBC reality dance competition World of Dance.
