Biography:
Dylan McDermott was born on October 26, 1961, in Waterbury, Connecticut, U.S. He attended Fordham University where he studied acting. He also trained at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York. In 1987, he made his cinematic debut in Hamburger Hill. He next had roles in the films The Blue Iguana and Twister. His first notable role was as Jackson Latcherie in the movie Steel Magnolias.
During the ’90s, he became widely known for his role as Bobby Donnell on the legal drama series The Practice. Simultaneously, he had performances in the movies ‘Til There Was You, Texas Rangers, Party Monster, and Wonderland. He later starred as Duncan Collinsworth on the short-lived show Big Shots. This was followed by his role as Carter Shaw on the TNT series Dark Blue. In the 2010s, he became more famous for his role as Dr. Ben Harmon on American Horror Story: Murder House, Duncan Carlisle on Hostages, Detective Jack Larsen on Stalker, and Capt. David “Dave” Pratman on LA to Vegas.
