Biography:
Ed Speleers was born on 7 April 1988 in Chichester, West Sussex, England. His professional acting career started as the lead role in the 2006 film Eragon, where he played the titular character. He next appeared in some episodes of the comedy series Moving Wallpaper in 2008. That same year, he played the part of Jimmy Penwarden in the soap opera Echo Beach. In the 2010s, the actor had roles in the movies A Lonely Place to Die, Love Bite, Plastic, Howl, and Remainder.
Between 2012 and 2014, he became known for his role as James “Jimmy” Kent in Downton Abbey. He went on to have memorable performances in the shows Agatha Christie’s: Partners in Crime and Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands. More recently, he starred as Stephen Bonnet in Outlander. Speleers also had performances in the films Alice Through the Looking Glass, Breathe, The House That Jack Built, and For Love or Money.
