Biography:
Edward Burns was born on January 29, 1968 in Woodside, New York, United States. After college, he got into the film industry when he worked as a production assistant in Oliver Stone’s The Doors. He then made his debut in the film The Brothers McMullen. He starred in it, as well as wrote, directed, and produced it. For this effort, he won an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.
He continued writing, directing, and producing, as well as starring in movies, such as in She’s the One, Sidewalks of New York, Ash Wednesday, The Groomsmen, Purple Violets, Nice Guy Johnny, and Newlyweds. Meanwhile, he played supporting roles in the well-known films Saving Private Ryan, 15 Minutes, Life or Something Like It, One Missed Call, 27 Dresses, and Echelon Conspiracy. He also acted on television, recently starring on the TV series Public Morals.
