Eliza Taylor was born on October 24, 1989 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She studied at Calder High School. She came to recognition in Australia for her lead role in Pirate Islands, which also marked her screen debut in 2003.

She has also appeared in two episodes of the famous Australian soap Neighbours before gaining wider notice after landing the role of Rosie Cartwright in The Sleepover Club. From 2005 to 2008, she returned to the soap opera Neighbours and played the regular role of Janae Timmins. She now plays the lead role in The CW series The 100, earning her prominence from international audiences.
