Ellen Pompeo was born on November 10, 1969 in Everett, Massachusetts, USA. She started her acting career with small roles in such television shows as Strangers with Candy, Friends and Law & Order.

In 2002, she had her breakthrough in Brad Silberling’s Moonlight Mile playing the role of Bertie Knox. She also appeared in Catch Me If You Can and Old School.

She landed her first major role in 2005, starring as Meredith Grey in the ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. In 2011 and 2012, she was named the highest paid television actress.
