Biography:
Emily Barclay was born on 24 October 1984 in Plymouth, UK. She grew up in New Zealand. She started acting at a young age, mostly in school plays. When she was 13, she was able to get an agent and got herself in some TV movies. In 1998, she made her TV debut on the New Zealand series Shortland Street. A few years later, she appeared in the independent movie No One Can Hear You.
Her performance in the 2004 New Zealand film In My Father’s Den got her acclaim, for which she was awarded the British Independent Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer. Her starring performance in the Australian movie Suburban Mayhem got her the AACTA Award for Best Leading Actress. In 2010, she voiced Gylfie in Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. Her most recent work on the big screen was in The Light Between Oceans.
