It was in 1994 that actress Emily Mortimer got her early start in acting. Her initial years saw her act in some television shows with one-episode roles. Simultaneously, she also started a film career. In 1996, she made her first movie appearance in The Ghost and the Darkness, playing the wife of Val Kilmer’s character. She next appeared in the movie The Last of the High Kings. She next played Kat Ashley in 1998’s Elizabeth.
Her next role was in the romantic comedy Notting Hill. She became more active on the big screen in the 2000s. Some of her film credits are Scream 3, The 51st State, A Foreign Affair, Match Point, and Lars and the Real Girl. She also played Nicole Durant in The Pink Panther and The Pink Panther 2. In 2010, she played the lead in the movie Leonie. She next had roles in the movies Our Idiot Brother, Hugo, and Spectral, among others. From 2012 to 2014, she played Mackenzie McHale in the HBO series The Newsroom.
The actress not only eats well, she also tries her best to live an active lifestyle. While she admits that finds working out dull and boring, she tries to find other alternatives to get her body moving. She said in an interview: “My exercise routine is intermittent to non-existent. I find it very boring. Although recently I’ve got into dancing at this place called AKT, which is great because you have to learn dance steps and it distracts you from the relentless tedium of working out.”
Nonetheless, she still hits the gym when she’s in the mood for it. She does so because she understands the importance of being active. While her being an actress and being a mom surely keeps her moving, she still needs to challenge her body even more to stay in shape and be stronger. But how does she keep herself motivated? She revealed: “When I’m panicked about my love handles, I go to the YMCA and get obsessed with Kid Rock videos as I’m on the running machine.”
