Biography:

Emma Thompson was born on 15 April 1959 in Paddington, London, UK. She attended Newnham College, University of Cambridge. During her beginnings, she appeared in some comedy shows. She eventually rose to fame for her roles on the shows Tutti Frutti and Fortunes of War. In 1989, she made her cinematic debut in The Tall Guy. Her career became more prolific in the 1990s. She starred in the 1995 movie Much Ado About Nothing.

Her performance in 1992’s Howards End earned her an Oscar for Best Actress. Her performance in the film Sense and Sensibility, which she also wrote, earned her another Oscar nomination for her acting. Her writing work in the movie also gained her an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. She went on to star in the 2000 movies Love Actually, Nanny McPhee, and Stranger than Fiction. Her latest movie is 2017’s Beauty and the Beast.
