Evan Rachel Wood was born on September 7, 1986 in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. She moved to Los Angeles with her mother when she was nine years old and began appearing in several made-for-television movies.
Her first major screen-role was in the 1998 film Digging to China. She also had a role in Practical Magic, alongside Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, that same year.
In 2003, she became well-known after her transition to a more adult-oriented role in the teen drama Thirteen. The role earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
