Fred Ward is an American actor. He started his career in the early 1970s, first debuting in the Italian miniseries The Age of the Medici. He next made his film debut with a small role in 1974’s Ginger in the Morning. He achieved his breakthrough later in 1979 as John Anglin in the movie Escape from Alcatraz co-starring Clint Eastwood. During the 1980s, he had notable performances in the movies Southern Comfort and The Right Stuff. The following decade, he starred in Henry & June, Miami Blues, Tremors, The Dark Wind, Short Cuts, and many others. He continued acting in the 2000s where he had supporting roles in a variety of films, including Sweet Home Alabama, Abandon, Feast of Love, and The Wild Stallion. He also appeared as Eddie Wyczenski in 3 episodes of ER.
