Biography:

Harry Shum Jr. was born on April 28, 1982 in Limón, Costa Rica. He and his family moved to the States when he was six. In his later life, he attended San Francisco State University. He decided to drop out to become a dancer in Los Angeles. In 2003, he made his acting debut in an episode of Boston Public. He later made cameo appearances as a dancer in the films You Got Served and Stomp the Yard.

After some guest roles on television, he landed the role of Mike Chang in the Fox series Glee. The show’s success made him widely known as well, along with the rest of the cast. While on the series, he had roles in the films Our Family Wedding, White Frog, Moms’ Night Out, and Revenge of the Green Dragons. After Glee ended, he successfully got the role of Magnus Bane in the Freeform series Shadowhunters.
