Heather Headley is a Trinidadian-American singer-songwriter and actress. In 2000, she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for playing the lead in the musical Aida. She then started her recording career in 2002 with her debut album This Is Who I Am. Her second album, In My Mind, came out in 2006. Her 2009 album Audience of One won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album. She recently ventured into acting on television. In 2017, she had a recurring character in the TV series She’s Gotta Have It. She then became known for her recurring role as Gwen Garrett in NBC’s Chicago Med. She currently stars as one of the leads in the new series Sweet Magnolias.
