Helen Hunt was born on June 15, 1963 in Culver City, California, USA. She first came to prominence as Jamie Stemple Buchman in the sitcom Mad About You.

In film, she gained recognition for her role as Dr. Jo Harding in the disaster movie Twister. She then starred as Carol Connelly in the film As Good as It Gets, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress.

Some of her other notable movies include Cast Away, What Women Want, Pay It Forward, Soul Surfer and The Sessions. She also ventured into directing with her directorial debut Then She Found Me.
