Biography:
Holly Hunter was born on March 20, 1958 in Conyers, Georgia, U.S. She attended at the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh where she received a degree in drama. In 1981, she made her film debut in The Burning.
The following year, she relocated to Los Angeles where she was cast as a supporting role in the film Swing Shift. In 1987, she gained notice for her starring role in Raising Arizona.
That same year, she received her first Academy Award nomination for her work in Broadcast News. She once again received much acclaim for her role in The Piano, winning the Academy Award for Best Actress.
