Biography:

Indya Moore was born on January 17, 1995 in New York City, U.S. She is a transgender and non-binary. Moore started their career as a model during their teens, modeling for such brands as Dior and Gucci. In 2017, they had walked the New York Fashion Week and was featured in Vogue España. Eventually, being a model took a toll on them, especially because of how the fashion industry put a great emphasis on one’s body.

While doing background work for the TV series The Get Down, they met dancer Jose Gutierez Xtravaganza, who encouraged Moore to try acting. He then sent Moore to audition for a part in the independent film Saturday Church, in which she got the part of Dijon. It was released in 2017 and marked as their film debut. The following year, Moore landed their breakthrough role as Angel Evangelista in the acclaimed drama series, Pose. They starred as the lead role from 2018 to 2021, gaining them mainstream stardom.

At the same time, they had performances in such feature films as Queen & Slim and A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting. In 2021, they starred as Brianna Collier in the thriller movie Escape Room: Tournament of Champions. Other performances include an appearance in pop star Katy Perry’s music video for the hit song “Swish Swish”.

Moore also pursued a career in filmmaking, starring in the short film Magic Hour, for which they also served as executive producer. It has been announced recently that Moore was also cast for the role of Karshon in the Aquaman sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is set to be released in 2022.
