Jade Pettyjohn was born on November 8, 2000 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Before she started her Hollywood career, she performed while in a dance group. In 2008, she made her television debut in an episode of The Mentalist. Her next roles were in some short films. In the 2010s, she made one-episode roles in some shows. She also appeared in 3 episodes of Revolution.

In 2014, she played Ava Tophet in several episodes of The Last Ship and appeared as Chloe Hartman in Henry Danger. She also made her cinematic debut in the film Dakota’s Summer. Her first starring role on the small screen was as Summer in School of Rock. Following this, she had performances in the films Destroyer, Trial by Fire, and Seberg.
