Jake Gyllenhaal Workout Routine

Jake Gyllenhaal

Academy Award-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal is an expert when it comes to molding his body the way he wants it to be. Having a natural flair for acting, recognition came early in his career. Later, he became wiser in choosing roles such as in Jarhead, Brokeback Mountain, Zodiac, End of Watch, Prisoners, Nightcrawler, and Southpaw.

He’s been mostly acclaimed for his performances and most of his films were box office successes, establishing him as an A-list top-caliber actor. Jake most notably stole the spotlight while shooting the movie Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (released in 2010). For his lead role in the film, he had a major physical transformation apparent with his bigger physique and his chiseled-looking body.

Jake’s workout routine includes High Intensity Interval Training or HIIT. It involves undergoing laborious exercises within a short period and is immediately followed by quicker rests. The actor would do this routine by taking a 10-minute uphill sprint and then do some exercises for the abs while at the top of the hill. He’d do it again five times, followed by a 10-minute run accompanied by stretching. Next on his routine is cardio. Running is particularly essential for enhancing one’s stamina and building muscles. For Prince of Persia, Jake would undergo a 90-minute cardio workout while wearing a 20-pound jacket so he could practice wearing an armor.

Another is a parkour workout. He started this with gymnastics before moving on to jumping on harder surfaces such as rooftops, bridges, and beams. Before doing this, he’d have some cardio first so he could focus on his landings with more agility. To build his muscles, Jake would spend an hour of night training using resistance cables followed by push-ups, pull-ups, and weight training for his abs. His last routine would be stretching and brisk walking.
