Biography:

James Norton was born on July 18, 1985 in London, England. During his teens, he got involved with theater. He then studied Theology at Fitzwilliam College at the University of Cambridge. Starting his acting career on stage, he further trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art but didn’t graduate to pursue acting professionally. He made his film debut in the 2009 movie An Education.

His next role came three years later with the film Cheerful Weather for the Wedding, followed by the miniseries Restless. In the next few years, he played roles in the movies Rush, Belle, Mr. Turner before gaining wider recognition for his main roles on the TV shows Happy Valley and Grantchester. He was then critically praised for his portrayal of Prince Andrei Bolkonsky in the BBC miniseries War & Peace.
