It was in 1998 that actor Jamie Bamber got his start in the show business. He made his debut in the British TV movie Hornblower. He next appeared in another TV film Lady Audley’s Secret. His first gig on a major production was as 2nd Lt. Jack Foley in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. He later had notable performances in the British shows Peak Practice and Ultimate Force. Later in the 2000s, he got his breakthrough after he got the role of Lee ‘Apollo’ Adama in the miniseries Battlestar Galactica.
When this was made into a full television series, he reprised his role, which has since made him famous. Following this, he successfully got the role of Battlestar Galactica in Law & Order: UK, which he played from 2009 to 2011. After this wrapped up, he starred in the short-lived shows Monday Mornings and The Smoke. He later had recurring roles in The Messengers, Marcella, and Fearless. He currently stars as Eric Burton in the new series Counterpart.
Prepping for a certain role is not something new for Jamie Bamber. Hence, he is used to training his body in a certain way. Even when he’s not preparing for a project, the actor still continues to stay active by being consistent with this workout routine. In order to make his time in the gym worthwhile, he listens to music and works out really early. He said: “I try to go early. I love working out in the mornings. I love the idea of the whole day being in front of you and not having to think about it — just getting up and going. I enjoy my workout; I love the feeling of having that muscle burn.”
Even when he’s on the go, he tries to continue his workouts. How? He said: “Running is my staple. If there’s a gym in the hotel and I don’t know where I am, I will run on the treadmill. That’s how I deal with it. More these days, my tennis racquet is the key. The hard thing is finding someone to pay with when you move around. If you’re playing well and the ball stays in play, you’re really moving and it’s great — I love tennis as a workout.”
