Biography:

Janelle Monáe was born on December 1, 1985 in Kansas City, Kansas, U.S.. She has aspired in becoming a performer since she was young. In her later life, she relocated to New York where she studied at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. In 2003, she began her recording and singing career upon the release of her first extended play The Audition.

She released another EP titled Metropolis: Suite I (The Chase), which got noticed. Her debut full-length studio album, The ArchAndroid, was then released in 2010. This got her critical praise, earning her Grammy nominations. Her vocals were also featured in “We Are Young” by Fun.. She has also recently began a movie career where she starred in the films Moonlight and Hidden Figures.
