Janelle Monáe first came to prominence as a recording artist. She first released her demo album, The Audition in 2003. Years later in 2007, she released her first extended play with Metropolis: Suite I (The Chase). The EP reached number two on the US Top Heatseekers chart. In 2010, she released her first full-length studio album The ArchAndroid. After this, she was a guest vocalist in Fun.’s single “We Are Young”.
The success of the song introduced her to mainstream audiences. Her second studio album The Electric Lady came out in 2013. It debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200. The singer ultimately ventured into acting after landing the role of NASA mathematician and aerospace engineer Mary Jackson in the biographical drama Hidden Figures. Released in 2016, the film was a critical and commercial success.
She also played the role of Teresa in the Academy Award Best Picture winner Moonlight. In 2018, she appeared as Julie in the film Welcome to Marwen. She then had voice roles in the animated films UglyDolls and Lady and the Tramp. She also played Marie Buchanon in the biographical film Harriet and portrayed Dorothy Pitman Hughes in The Glorias. She recently starred in the horror film Antebellum. Also, she starred as Jackie in Season 2 of the Prime Video series Homecoming.
When it comes to staying fit and healthy, Janelle Monáe’s ways are pretty much simple. No strict dieting or any other fads, just balanced meals. She also makes sure that her skin is healthy and glowing by eating nutritious foods. “I won’t sit here and say I’ve never had a pimple, but I try to have a really great diet, you know, lots of vegetables and fish,” said the actress. “And I think stress plays a huge part too.
