Jenna Ushkowitz was born on April 28, 1986 in Seoul, South Korea. She was adopted as an infant and was raised in New York. She started performing during her high school years by joining in school productions. After her graduation, she attended Marymount Manhattan College. There, she finished a degree in theater arts. Initially, she started her career in the show business as a child.

During her early years, she appeared in some shows, including Sesame Street. She later performed on Broadway. After her time on the stage, she found fame on television after landing the role of Tina Cohen in the acclaimed series Glee. The show aired on Fox for six seasons, earning her mainstream prominence both as an actress and as a singer. Her latest work on the screen was in the 2017 movie Hello Again.
