Biography:

Jennifer Carpenter was born on December 7, 1979 in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. She studied drama at the Walden Theatre in Louisville during her last two years of high school.

She then went to New York to train at the Juilliard School. She made her Broadway debut in the revival of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible in 2002.

Her breakthrough was in the 2005 film The Exorcism of Emily Rose, where she attracted critical attention for her performance. She received the 2006 MTV Movie Award for Best Frightened Performance, as well as a Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award.
