Hollywood actress Jennifer Esposito had her career beginnings in the mid-1990s. She first became known for her role as Stacey Paterno in the series Spin City. During this period, she also had a role in the film I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. In the 2000s, she played Louann “Crystal” Turner in Judging Amy. She also joined the main cast of the short-lived series Related as Ginnie Sorelli.
At the same time, she had notable roles in the films The Master of Disguise, Crash, Taxi, and Conspiracy. Afterward, she joined the main cast of the series Samantha Who? as Andrea Belladonna. From 2010 to 2012, she played Detective Jackie Curatola in Blue Bloods. Her next role was as Monica Pena in Taxi Brooklyn. She has since played notable roles in the shows Mistresses as Calista Raines and The Affair as Nina Solloway. More recently, she starred as Alexandra “Alex” Quinn in NCIS.
The 44-year-old actress has been diagnosed with a celiac disease. For this reason, she follows a completely gluten-free diet. Talking about it in an interview, she shared how she started practicing a gluten-free diet. She revealed: “I started to follow the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) diet: no grain, seeds, nuts, sugar, dairy, caffeine. It gives your autoimmune system a chance to calm the inflammation. Once I really started to heal my body, I lost a good seven pounds.”
Because she can’t have any foods that contain gluten, the actress said she needed to be creative in order to satisfy her food cravings. She revealed: “Open my freezer and it’s packed with grain-free flours, such as quinoa, sweet potato, sorghum, almond, and plantain flour for pancakes.” This also gives her the reason to stick to healthier foods. When asked what she orders when eating out, she answered: “I always bring my own bread—and worst-case scenario, I get a salad with nothing on it.”
